Sihong Jianbei Site

The Sihong Jianbei Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Jianbei Site is located to the south of Jianbei Village, Weiyin Township, Sihong County. It was discovered in August 2009 during the third national cultural relics survey. The site consists of two mounds, one in the east and one in the west, with the larger mound on the east and the smaller one on the west. The eastern mound rises about 2 meters above the ground, while the western mound is slightly lower. The two mounds are closely connected, with a north-south ditch between them. The site is 250 meters long from east to west and 200 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of approximately 50,000 square meters. Artifacts visible on the surface include pottery shards, li tripod leg fragments, ding tripod leg fragments, and pottery spinning whorls. The decorative patterns include fine cord impressions and fingerprint-like impressions. The cultural layer in some areas is about 2.5 meters thick. The upper part of the site belongs to the Shang and Zhou dynasties cultural layer, while the lower part belongs to the Neolithic cultural layer. It is a well-preserved human settlement site in the Huai River basin and holds significant value for studying the distribution of settlements in northern Jiangsu during the Neolithic period and the origins of civilization in the Huai River region.
