Laoshan Han Tombs

The Laoshan Han Tombs are a cultural relic protection unit of Suqian City.

The Laoshan Han Tombs are located more than 500 meters northeast of Meihua Town in Sihong County. In 2011, to accommodate the construction of a timber factory in Meihua Town, the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication, in collaboration with the History Department of Nanjing University, conducted an emergency archaeological excavation at the site. A total of 34 ancient tombs were cleared. Over 200 Han Dynasty artifacts were unearthed, including pottery, bronze ware, ironware, and jade artifacts. Among them, two sets of burial jade artifacts were identified as national first-class relics. To the east of the tomb complex lies the Guozui Site, which holds significant importance for the study of the burial mound tomb styles of the Han Dynasty in the Huai River basin.

Meihua Town: Located 10 kilometers south of Sihong County and 35 kilometers north of Suqian City proper, Meihua Town borders Liuxu and Haita, two major towns in Sixian County, Anhui Province, to the west. It covers an area of 96 square kilometers, with 90,000 mu of cultivated land and 24,000 mu of water area. The town administers 10 administrative villages (residential committees), with a total population of 31,500, including 27,500 agricultural residents and 4,000 urban residents. Meihua has a history of 6,000 years and got its name from the abundant plum blossoms on nine plum blossom mountains in ancient times.
