Remains of Terrace Structures on Zhongshan Mountain

The Remains of Terrace Structures on Zhongshan Mountain are a protected cultural heritage site of Jiangsu Province.

The Six Dynasties Terrace Structure Ruins on Nanjing’s Zhongshan Mountain consist of two altars and one associated terrace building. The three architectural remains are arranged from north to south over a distance of more than 300 meters, covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters. The complex is large in scale and sophisticated in structure. Situated along a spur that protrudes from the main ridge of Zhongshan Mountain's southern slope, the structures descend from high to low in a north–south alignment, each constructed symmetrically along a central north–south axis. Originally a provincial-level protected site, the "Remains of Terrace Structures on Zhongshan Mountain" was selected as one of the “Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries in China” with the highest number of votes in 2000. After being elevated to a national protected site, it was renamed the "Zhongshan Architectural Ruins."

On October 22, 2002, the Remains of Terrace Structures on Zhongshan Mountain were designated as part of the fifth group of Protected Cultural Heritage Sites of Jiangsu Province.
