Funing Iron Army Memorial Hall

The Funing Iron Army Memorial Hall is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a classic red tourism site.

The Funing Iron Army Memorial Hall was designed by Hangzhou Blue Sky Design Institute in the style of a classical Chinese garden, incorporating the concept of a traditional Beijing courtyard. Its interior design and decoration were undertaken by Nanjing University of the Arts. The building covers a floor area of 1,000 square meters. The hall mainly introduces the revolutionary struggle history of the people of Funing and the remarkable achievements of the New Fourth Army after its headquarters moved from Yancheng to Funing on July 10, 1941.

Funing is a veteran revolutionary base area. To honor the revolutionary martyrs and promote the spirit of the Iron Army, Funing County built the Iron Army Square in October 2008 and invested 4.5 million yuan to construct the Iron Army Memorial Hall. After nearly a year of construction and research, a 1,000-square-meter exhibition hall with a display area of 603 square meters was unveiled to the million residents of this veteran revolutionary base. It features four major exhibition halls and integrates photos, sculptures, artifacts, modern film and television, as well as sound, light, and electrical effects. The memorial hall is located within the Funing Martyrs' Cemetery, where more than 500 martyrs rest.

The completion of the Funing Iron Army Memorial Hall not only adds luster to the Iron Army Square but also provides a splendid new attraction for Funing’s red tourism.
