Bell Tower Guanyin Portrait Stele

The Bell Tower Guanyin Portrait Stele is a protected cultural heritage site of Jiangsu Province.

The Bell Tower Guanyin Portrait Stele is located on Jijiang East Road in Jingjiang City.

Originally built in the third year of the Longqing era of the Ming Dynasty (1569), it was reconstructed in the ninth year of the Chongzhen era (1636) and renovated again in the tenth year of the Tongzhi era (1871). It features a hip-and-gable double-eave roof with two levels above ground, showcasing exquisite structure. The lower level is surrounded by a corridor, with bracket sets projecting beneath the eaves. Inside is a Guanyin portrait stele carved during the Longqing era of the Ming Dynasty; the ridge apex rises high, resembling a swimming dragon. The original large bell at the top of the bell tower was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution and was replaced in 1985 when the bell tower was renovated and a new bronze bell was cast.
