“In front of my home flows the mighty Yangtze, shining like a golden necklace. The clear Ronghu Lake is a pearl, a token of love held in the palm of the hand...” On November 8, 2009, on the stage of the Joyful China Tour, Tang Can’s heartfelt rendition of “Love for Ronghu Lake” resonated deeply, prompting residents of Jingjiang to download and sing it widely. The “Ronghu Lake” mentioned in this song refers to Majiazhou Park in Jingjiang. Covering an area of over 330 acres, Majiazhou Park has become a major leisure and entertainment destination for local residents since its completion.

Located in the heart of Binjiang New Town and south of the new administrative center, Majiazhou Park lies north of Sunshine Avenue and is the largest comprehensive public park in Jingjiang. The park fully reflects the region’s unique geographical features—such as sandbars, riverbanks, old shores, and embankments—as well as its water-friendly ecological landscape. Scenic spots are arranged in a strip around Ronghu Lake, creating a distinctive “water conservancy bonsai.” The park features 15 main attractions, including Ronghu Lake Square, Fishing Boats Under Moonlight, Musical Fountain, Playful Stone Spring, Solitary Mountain Moon Fishing, Green Waves and Golden Sands, Cultural Stele Wall, Landscape Stone Cascades, Nine-Turn Bridge, Peach Blossoms in Sandy Garden, White Pigeon Golden Bridge, Children’s Playground, Bamboo Grove and Emerald Shade, Lakeview and Music Listening, and Ronghu Pearl. Numerous smaller attractions are interspersed throughout. The “Ronghu Lake” mentioned in Tang Can’s song occupies two-fifths of the park’s area, about 132 acres, with water sourced from the Yangtze River. Looking down at Ronghu Lake, you’ll notice that it is naturally divided into a larger and a smaller body of water by a peninsula and the White Pigeon Golden Bridge, stretching from north to south in an approximate horseshoe shape, aligning with the “Majiazhou” (Horse Shoal) theme. The lake’s shape resembles the profile of a young Jingjiang woman—graceful and dignified.

On the southwestern side of the park stands a cultural stele wall, 90 meters long and 2 meters high. It features 10 black granite relief panels depicting the historical and cultural heritage of Jingjiang over the centuries since its establishment as a port and administrative center. The panels, arranged from north to south, depict scenes such as White Horse Carrying Sand, Ancestors of Majiazhou, Founding of the Port and Administration, Han Hui’s Water Control, Resistance Against Wokou Pirates, Resistance Against British Invaders, Solitary Mountain Temple Fair, Hometown of Precious Scrolls, Business Tycoons, and Love Across a Thousand Sails. The entire stele wall is arranged in a zigzag formation, resembling an open, weighty historical picture scroll. Carefully reading the panels is like stepping into Jingjiang’s yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
