Jijiang Road Pedestrian Street

Jijiang Road Pedestrian Street is located in the heart of Jingjiang’s old city area, stretching from Renmin Road in the east to Xinjian Road in the west, with a total length of 432 meters. It integrates shopping, leisure, and entertainment, and is composed of the Decheng City Plaza, Tianyi International Shopping Center, and Xinhua Book City. The street houses major retailers such as Tianyi Shopping, Wenfeng Department Store, Shidai Supermarket, and Intime Department Store, and also features cultural and entertainment facilities including Xinhua Bookstore, a cinema, and a youth activity center.

The renovation project of Jijiang Road Pedestrian Street was one of the key municipal projects of Jingjiang Government in 2009. The eastern part of the pedestrian street is a civic square covering an area of over 9,000 square meters. At the center of the square stands the “Source” sculpture, a nine-curved pillar that is 9 meters tall, symbolizing the unity of all things. In the southeast corner of the square is the “Jing Stone,” shaped like a scallop shell, which features a map of Jingjiang and inscriptions detailing the city’s port-opening history. The base of the stone features four springs of water, representing the themes of “source of water, source of greenery, source of wealth, and source of fashion.”

Various sculptures and greenery on the pedestrian street complement the surrounding architecture. Starting from the “Jing Stone,” the Flowing Light Avenue stretches through the entire street. It features a themed sculpture and the “Rhyme Stone” inlaid with a bronze casting of the characters “Jingjiang.” Along the avenue, arc-shaped stone blocks depict fish and water patterns, while the central walkway is adorned with gracefully designed steel plate oases. The sides are lined with osmanthus and citron trees, interspersed with two sculptures: “Harmonious Home” and “Dolphins Playing in Water.” The entire pedestrian street embodies the design concept of “blending movement with stillness, integrating reality with illusion, balancing strength with softness, harmonizing light with shadow, and interweaving time and space,” highlighting Jingjiang’s historical roots, regional cultural characteristics, and modern commercial themes.
