Jingjiang People's Park

Jingjiang People's Park is situated in the city center of Jingjiang. It was originally established in the sixth year of the Republic of China (1917), during the time when the Tonghai Allied Forces were garrisoned in Jingjiang. They made use of the vacant land at Chongsheng Temple to create a garden, hiring garden workers to plant flowers, grow grass, shape rockeries, and build pavilions, forming the rudiments of a garden landscape. It was initially called “Public Garden,” which is why many people still refer to it by that name. After the liberation, it was renamed People's Park. Having endured many changes over the years, the park underwent significant transformations. In 2002, on the foundation of refining its landscape bonsai exhibit, the west gate of People's Park underwent a comprehensive renovation project with a total investment of 3.5 million yuan. The new west gate project consists of eight parts: the main gate, square and roads, guardhouse, scenic window walls, a comprehensive building, landscaping, and more. It covers an area of over 1,000 square meters, with a construction area of 5,000 square meters, designated for commercial, office, entertainment, and conference uses. The overall design of the west gate is scientifically planned and harmoniously integrated with the newly built Renmin Road. The entire construction reflects a refined, improved style of classical Suzhou architecture, appearing elegant, generous, and aesthetically pleasing. It combines artistic and ornamental qualities with spaciousness, brightness, and practicality, offering a pleasing visual experience and achieving a captivating effect.
