The Fengxian Youth Military School serves as a patriotic education base.

The Fengxian District Youth Military School was established in 1986 in the barracks of an Air Force unit stationed at the Fengxian anti-aircraft artillery range. It is the earliest-founded youth military school in China. In 1992, it was included in the Encyclopedia of National Defense Education. The school has been successively designated as a National Model Youth Military School, an Experience Education Base for China's Children's Safety Action, a News Practice Activity Base of China Children's Daily, a Shanghai National Defense Education Base, a Shanghai Red Cross First Aid Training Base, a Fengxian District Patriotic Education Base, a Civil Defense Education Base, and a Student Military Training Base. Located by the beautiful Hangzhou Bay in the Haiwan Tourist Area, the school is surrounded by rich resources such as coastal mudflat scenery, ecological landscapes, and military facilities, and enjoys convenient transportation. The campus covers nearly 30 acres and can accommodate over 300 people for meals and lodging.

Based on more than twenty years of practical exploration, the school has gradually improved its curriculum, including military and political training, civil defense and first aid, science education activities, growth ceremony education, and ethnic culture education. It has developed four major activity features: military training, battlefield first aid, growth ceremonies, and maritime interest activities.
