The Balan River is located in Yilan County, east of Harbin City. The water of the river is extremely clear and cool, and it is recognized as one of the few unpolluted rivers among inland waterways. Rafting down the Balan River allows you to fully experience the wonders of nature, forget the hustle and bustle of the city, and enjoy a leisurely and carefree journey.

Known as the “Number One Rafting Experience in Northern China,” the Balan River Rafting is situated at the southern foot of the Lesser Khingan Mountains, in the heart of the Danqing River Scenic Area. It is formed by mountain spring water, flows across the entire territory of Yinglan Korean Ethnic Township, and joins the Songhua River about 2 kilometers downstream from Yinglan Township in Yilan. The Balan River basin is sparsely populated, with well-preserved vegetation. The river water is crystal clear, cool, and sweet to the taste. In the hot summer, the water temperature remains only around 14 degrees Celsius. The river is abundant with fish such as Taimen and Balan River clams.

Surrounded by mountains and dense forests along its banks, rafting down the river in an inflatable raft allows you to fully experience the wonders, depth, beauty, and ruggedness of nature.

Currently, a 15-kilometer section of the Balan River has been developed for rafting. This section includes nine rapids, eighteen bends, and eighteen dangerous shoals. The water winds around the mountains, and the mountains encircle the water. There are also historical relics such as the Jilin-Heilongjiang Border Monument and Taoist temples scattered throughout the area. The current tourism-related infrastructure in the rafting area is still relatively underdeveloped. There is potential to build star-rated hotels, tourist shopping centers, and roads leading to the scenic area.
