The Yilan Folk Museum is a restoration and revitalization of the original Temple of the God of Wealth. Facing south and situated to the north, it covers an area of 5,000 square meters, with a built-up area of 950 square meters. The main structures consist of the Mountain Gate, the Temple of the God of Wealth, and the Folk Museum.

The Temple of the God of Wealth was one of the eight ancient temples in Yilan County. It was funded and constructed in 1796 by the Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall and the Zhili-Shandong Guild Hall. At the time of its establishment, a renowned geomancer was invited to select the site. Located at the strategic convergence of three rivers and atop the Dragon-Turtle Jade Back, the temple gathers wealth from the three rivers and absorbs the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. It is a majestic, elegant, and rustic ancient temple that stands as the largest, oldest, and most architecturally distinctive ancient temple in northern China. It serves as a place for worship, prayer, and seeking blessings from the God of Wealth in the northeastern region.

The main structure includes a three-bay gate hall, with a grand theater stage in the center and bell and drum towers on both sides. The main hall has five bays and enshrines the Civil God of Wealth Bi Gan, the Martial God of Wealth Guan Yu and Zhao Gongming, along with the Treasure-Attracting Celestial Master Xiao Sheng, the Treasure-Receiving Celestial Master Cao Bao, the Wealth-Inviting Messenger Chen Jiugong, and the Prosperity Deity Yao Shaosi on either side. The two halls feature upturned eaves, intricately carved beams and painted rafters, with twenty-eight finely crafted bronze wind bells swaying in the breeze. The sounds of the bell, drum, and wind chimes create a beautiful symphony. Upon hearing them, worries fade, wisdom awakens, blessings arrive, and benefits all beings.

The Yilan County Folk Museum has now gathered a large collection of folk materials and exhibits, documenting the historical changes in the production, life, customs, and culture of the various ethnic groups in Yilan. It is an excellent destination for visiting and studying the development history of the ancient city of Yilan.
