Ruins of Aihui New Town

The ruins of Aihui New Town are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The expanded Aihui Town was a square-shaped fortress with a perimeter of 940 steps, equivalent to 4,700 feet, and had five gates. As the town was located east of the river, making communication with inland areas quite difficult, it was decided in the same year to relocate the town to the right bank downstream and build a new Aihui Town on the site of the former Torga Town.

The ancient Aihui Town is located in the suburbs of Heihe City. On May 28, 1858, the Qing government was forced by Tsarist Russia to sign the Treaty of Aihui.
