Heihe Museum

Heihe Museum is located at No. 241 Hailan Street, Heihe City. It is the first prefecture-level museum among the 13 prefecture-level cities in Heilongjiang Province, serving as the central museum of Heihe. The museum is under the administration of the Heihe Cultural Relics Management Committee.

Since its official opening in 1989, Heihe Museum has stayed true to its historical positioning as a comprehensive prefecture-level museum, consistently launching various exhibitions that showcase the region’s natural resources, historical culture, and socioeconomic development achievements. At the same time, it actively introduces temporary exhibitions from within and outside the province that are wholesome and educational, featuring content with scientific and educational value, thus highlighting the museum's core mission of public outreach and education.

Among its collections is a set of Xing’er Oroqen ethnic spirit figurines, discovered in 1980 when a local Oroqen family was demolishing their old house. The spirit pieces and figurines were stored in four long, duck-bill-shaped birch bark boxes. These spirit objects include 37 natural idols carved from wood slices, depicting the sun, moon, stars, birds, snakes, fish, and turtles; three composite idols sewn onto one-square-foot cloth, each featuring two or three rows of wooden or lead figures adorned with fur trim at the top; and an additional 17 gouache paintings mounted on cloth-backed paper. This collection of Oroqen spirit figurines is unique in China, both in terms of variety and quantity.

The museum building features a simple and bright architectural style. Its exterior consists of stacked high and low square blocks, with yellow and white ceramic tiles on the front façade. The front also includes a courtyard, flower beds, and a clock tower. The structure is built with a brick-concrete frame and large-span steel beam lintels.

The museum houses four exhibition halls, covering a total area of 1,000 square meters. The second floor is equipped with a mezzanine corridor that offers a bird’s-eye view of the first-floor exhibition areas.

The museum lobby is approximately 50 square meters. On the left side is a VIP lounge, while the center features a panoramic sand table model of Heihe’s urban development. On the right is a map of the Heihe region, illustrating the natural geography and administrative divisions of its three cities (Heihe, Beian, Wudalianchi) and four counties (Nenjiang, Dedu, Xunke, Sunwu).
