Qiqihar Hequan Garden

Hequan Garden is located northeast of the Qiqihar Workers' Cultural Palace, covering an area of 6,000 square meters. Originally, this site was an old water source that had become nearly silted up into a muddy pond over the years.

In 1984, the people of the Crane Homeland cleaned the pond and built a garden here, naming it “Hequan Garden.” It is a garden designed in the classical architectural style of southern China. Within the small 2,000-square-meter pool, several red-crowned cranes of various designs stand gracefully. A winding bridge and an arched bridge span the pond, creating a quaint and charming scene. On the north side of the garden lies a corridor painted vermilion, with stone benches and tables around the pavilions for visitors to rest and enjoy the uniquely serene and elegant beauty reminiscent of southern water towns.

Someone once wrote a poem in its praise: “Lamps and lanterns dim at Hequan’s edge, new pavilions nestle by the water’s ledge. Wander east arcade, west bridge to find peace—tread softly lest you wake cranes from sleep.” The garden has planted over 100 trees including small green poplars, elms, junipers, red-skin spruces, and weeping willows, along with flower beds spanning over 50 square meters. It has now become a delightful leisure spot for the locals of the Crane Homeland.
