Geshan Tourism Development Zone

Geshan Tourism Development Zone is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located about 35 kilometers from the county seat and built around Geshan Mountain. The mountain is roughly elongated in shape, with a slightly concave ridge that winds in a serpentine pattern from northeast to southwest, covering a total area of approximately 7 square kilometers, including 5 square kilometers of forestland and a vegetation coverage rate of 71%. The Nomon River flows southwest along the eastern foothills of the mountain, while a forest railway loops halfway around from the north, moving east to west, with the Xiangyang Reservoir at the mountain’s northwest foot being rich in fish. This area was once one of the main activity zones for the Sixth Division of the Third Army, led by Zhang Guangdi under the command of Xu Hengzhi, the commander of the Harbin Northern Division of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. The mountain is home to the Yuqing Palace Taoist Temple, and plans are underway to build a Taoist Three Pure Ones Hall. Currently, it offers tourist activities such as hiking, fishing, swimming, skiing, hunting, and target shooting. In conjunction with the provincial government’s Hundred Projects Implementation Plan, which includes the large-scale Geshan Reservoir project with a total capacity of 600 million cubic meters, plans are in place to develop water recreation facilities such as a water park, water surfing, yachts, a lakeside restaurant, and fishing areas. A 1,500-meter-long ski slope is planned on the northwest slope of Geshan Mountain, winter ice recreational activities at Xiangyang Reservoir, and the establishment of a 10-square-kilometer forest botanical garden in the northern part of Geshan Mountain. Key attractions include Yuqing Palace Taoist Temple, Xiangyang Reservoir, Geshan Power Station, hiking trails, swimming areas, and fishing spots.
