Ecological Deer Farm

Located at the source of the Tangwang River in Juyuan Forest Farm, Wuyiling District, the Xing’an Breed Deer Breeding Base is Heilongjiang Province’s largest ecological deer farm. With a total area of 36,300 square meters and an investment of nearly 10 million yuan, it currently houses a herd of over a thousand deer. The geographical location of Juyuan Forest Farm is unique, sitting at an altitude of 404.5 meters and featuring a cold temperate monsoon climate. It lies in an agroforestry transition zone, with abundant agricultural straw leftovers, as well as plenty of secondary forests and vine shrubs—ideal conditions for deer to thrive.

The ecological deer farm base includes breeding areas, free-range zones, and leisure and entertainment areas, covering a total area of 36,300 square meters. The deer sheds occupy 11,120 square meters, with roofs fully covered in color steel tiles and floors paved with red bricks. There are three rows and nine sheds in total, capable of housing over a thousand deer. The base also has two residential buildings, one feed storage warehouse, and one epidemic prevention room. Since 2004, when the first batch of breeding deer was introduced from Xifeng County, Tieling City, Liaoning Province, the farm has bred and maintained a population of 1,030 deer—including over 700 sika deer and over 300 red deer. More than 400 fawns have been sold, with an annual production of 1,050 kilograms of deer antler, along with by-products such as deer blood essence and deer placenta paste. Current sales revenue has reached 500,000 yuan, and further deep processing of some deer products is underway. The breeding base also offers leisure and entertainment activities such as fishing, sightseeing, and hunting.
