Bashazi Island National Nature Reserve is a national nature reserve.

Bashazi Island National Nature Reserve is situated in the heart of the Sanjiang Plain, in the northeastern part of Tongjiang City, bordering Russia across the Heilongjiang River to the north. It lies between longitude 133°40′–134°01′ east and latitude 48°08′–48°18′ north, covering an area of 32,014 hectares. The reserve is divided into a core zone of 7,918 hectares, a buffer zone of 6,450 hectares, an experimental zone of 16,553 hectares, and a protection belt of 1,093 hectares. It is classified as a freshwater wetland and aquatic ecosystem-type nature reserve.

Located along the Heilongjiang River where the Heilongjiang and Songhua rivers converge, in Heilongjiang Province, this reserve is one of the few island-type, riverside border nature reserves in the province and even in China. The area features numerous islands, scattered lakes and marshes, well-developed wetlands of diverse types, and a rich variety of wildlife, including many rare species. It boasts high biodiversity and serves as an important genetic reservoir of biological resources. Additionally, the reserve offers abundant scenic landscapes and preserves the historical and cultural heritage of the Hezhe people—one of China’s “Six Minorities.” Therefore, it holds significant conservation value.
