Cold Water Fish Habitat in Huma County Nature Reserve

The Huma River originates from the northern side of the Yilehuli Mountains, flows from south to north, passes through Tahe and turns southeast after reaching Baiyinnuo, finally joining the Heilongjiang River southeast of Huma Town. The Cold Water Fish Habitat in Huma County Nature Reserve was established in 1982 with approval from the provincial government. Its primary conservation targets are endemic fish species such as salmon and kaluga.

The shores of Huma County boast uniquely beautiful scenery. The hills and mountainous areas are covered with dense primeval forests, while swamps and riverbanks are abundant with aquatic plants such as water onion and cattail. The waters of the Huma River are pristine and unpolluted, and are home to cold-water fish species including taimen and lenok. All the fish are wild.
