Gaxian Cave Forest Park

Gaxian Cave Forest Park is located in the northwest of Alihe Town, Oroqen Autonomous Banner, approximately 3.5 kilometers from Alihe Town, covering an area of 15,819 hectares. The park is surrounded by mountains on all sides, with shimmering blue waters and lush green hills reflecting each other beautifully. The Gaxian River within the park flows from the northwest to the southeast, spanning a length of 25 kilometers with an average depth of 0.4 meters. Lush Xing’an willows and sweet poplars grow along both banks, and the crystal-clear waters offer a uniquely scenic view.

The park is home to a diverse range of rare birds and animals, and is abundant in edible fungi and medicinal herbs, making it rich in both wildlife and plant resources. Artificial lakes, long corridors, European-style houses, Mongolian yurts, and slanted wooden dwellings (known as cuoluozi) contribute to the park’s distinctive natural landscapes and culturally rich ethnic scenery. The national first-class protected cultural relic, Gaxian Cave, is situated on a towering granite cliff reaching 100 meters high within the park. It is the ancient “stone chamber” ruins where the ancestors of the Tuoba Xianbei people of the Northern Wei Dynasty once lived. On the left wall inside the cave, there is an inscribed stone text carved in 443 AD by Tuoba Tao, who sent his minister Li Chang to the site for ancestral worship. The inscription consists of 19 lines and 201 characters in Chinese clerical script and dates back over 1,550 years. The park offers a variety of recreational activities, including ethnic song and dance performances, crossbow shooting, wildlife viewing, dining, amusement park rides, cave exploration, karaoke, boating, hiking for panoramic views, and fishing. The best time to visit is from May to the end of October. The park is fully equipped with tourist service facilities, with the peak tourist seasons being spring, summer, and autumn. It receives around 20,000 domestic and international visitors annually.

By Public Transport: Take a minibus or taxi from Jiagedaqi Railway Station to Gaxian Cave Forest Park

By Car: Drive along Provincial Highway S310 and arrive at the site located 5.1 kilometers along Central Road
