Donglong Bay is located at the northern end of Longwan Tourist Area. It is a highly explosive stratovolcano with a cylindrical crater covering an area of 0.4 square kilometers. Donglong Bay was among the first of the many Longwan bays to be visited by people. It is one of the “Eight Scenic Spots” recorded in the Huinan County Annals. The phrase “Pine Melody in the Dragon Pool” refers to the scenery of Donglong Bay. For reasons unknown, this famous scenic spot has long lain undisturbed amid towering ancient forests and boundless wild grasslands—no tourists, no vehicles, no pavilions or palaces, only open mountains, wild waters, birdsong, and the sound of springs. This has kept it so pristine, so simple, and so natural. Precisely for this reason, it has remained unspoiled by human activity, becoming a rare natural landscape with minimal human interference, and one of today’s few “wild” attractions. This is exactly what countries around the world strive for in tourism development.
