Songhua Lake Scenic Area

Songhua Lake is hailed as the "Pearl of the North." Covering an area of 550 square kilometers with a shoreline stretching 180 kilometers, over 80 kilometers of which lie within Huadian, forming the Songhua Lake Birch Scenic Area. The area features undulating mountains on both banks, deep valleys, lush forests, and magnificent natural landscapes. There are more than 20 scenic spots, divided into three major areas: the first is the water-based scenic area that extends along the lake from Birch, featuring main attractions such as Mudan Lazi, 32nd Lazi, Honey Lazi, Chimney Lazi, and Monkey Stone Mountain. The second is the comprehensive tourism scenic area of Mudan Peak, centered around Shanlin Temple built by the Northeastern historical figure Han Xianzhong (Han Bianwai), the Han Bianwai Exhibition Hall, and Shanlin Mountain Villa. The third is the cultural scenic area, highlighted by Immortal Cave, Goguryeo Ancient City, Golden Turtle Island, and Fuzhen Island. The area also offers facilities such as an aerial cableway and venues for skiing and ice-skating.

The Songhua Lake area is home to wildlife such as water voles and wild ducks. In spring and summer, the picturesque peaks, drooping willows, emerald waters, and vibrant flowers, coupled with fishing boats at sunset, moonlit nights, gentle breezes, and shimmering waves, create a breathtaking riverside scene. Jagged cliffs, uniquely shaped "Monkey Stones," and the sparkling lake waters all showcase the charm of northern water landscapes.

(1) Fuzhen Garden

Fuzhen Garden is a place for visitors to rest, dine, and enjoy entertainment. Located 3 kilometers from the Songhua Lake dock and 2 kilometers from the Goguryeo Ancient City ruins, it covers an area of 20,000 square meters. The garden is characterized by its unique trees and peculiar rocks. Here, mountains, water, trees, stones, and pathways blend naturally into the ecosystem. Swings are nestled among maple trees, stone steps are scattered with fallen petals, and pine needles carpet the forest floor. The garden's

(2) Golden Turtle Island

Golden Turtle Island is situated on the southern bank of the Songhua River, about 10 li from Fuzhen Garden. From afar, it resembles a divine turtle lying by the shore. During flood season, the lake water just submerges the "turtle’s" neck, making its head and body appear as if the turtle is emerging from the water. Not far across the river lies a spot called "Turtle Bed," said to be where turtles in the lake come to "dry their shells."
