The Tongyu County Museum was established in December 2006. It operates under an integrated system where the Tongyu County Cultural Relics Management Office shares the same name, staff, and management team. It is the only public welfare service facility in Tongyu County with local characteristics, showcasing naturally preserved tools from human production and daily life to the public. Each artifact embodies the wisdom and ingenuity of ancient people, featuring elegant designs and practical uses that reflect artistic qualities, providing valuable historical material for the study of cultural development.

Overview of the New Museum

New Museum Area: 3,764 square meters, expected to be operational by the end of 2017. The new museum will feature four exhibition halls: the Microlith Exhibition Hall, Historical Relics Exhibition Hall, Ecology Exhibition Hall, and Temporary Exhibition Hall, accommodating up to 400 visitors. It will also include two cultural relics storage rooms and a small meeting room that can hold 100 people.

The Tongyu County Museum currently houses a collection of 5,789 cultural relics. Among them, there are 56 classified as precious relics, including 3 national second-grade relics and 53 national third-grade relics. The museum is located on the fourth floor of the Cultural Building on Fanrong South Street, Kaitong Town, Tongyu County. The current building covers an area of approximately 300 square meters, with an exhibition space of 100 square meters. The museum has 12 staff members, including 4 Party members and 9 professional technicians. The mission of the Tongyu County Museum is to collect and exhibit cultural relics, conduct relic surveys, carry out cultural relic protection within the county, promote cultural relic laws, restore relics, research historical artifacts, collect and disseminate relics, preserve historic sites and remains, and create ethnic, folk, and animal and plant specimens. It aims to promote national culture and provide patriotic education. The Tongyu County Museum is an important venue for displaying and promoting human culture and natural heritage, and serves as a key component of the national education system. With a focus on publicity, exhibition, and open services, the museum aims to improve management and enhance public service capabilities. Its goal is to inherit and develop Chinese culture and provide patriotic education as a public welfare institution.
