The ceaselessly flowing Tao'er River originates from the deep reaches of the Gaoyue Mountain Range in the Greater Khingan Mountains. Along its journey, it sings joyfully, bringing rain and stirring the winds, meandering and rushing forward, now flowing east, now turning south, nurturing countless offspring along its path. Among them is the charming and picturesque Chuangye Lake.

Situated 45 kilometers southwest of Taonan within Cheli Township, Chuangye Lake borders the Tao'er River to the north, receives the Emuthe River to the west, connects with the Huolin River to the south, and merges with the renowned Xianghai Nature Reserve. It covers a drainage area of 1,831 square kilometers, with a water surface area of 35,000 mu. It has gained fame both at home and abroad for its 18 scenic islands. The surrounding area is pristine and rustic, where coniferous and broadleaf forests meet, ancient trees and Mongolian elm stand with rugged branches, green fields and fragrant wildflowers abound, and buds waft sweet scents. The vast lake surface is shrouded in misty waters, reflecting the sky and clouds, teeming with birds, dotted with fishing boats, and hiding hundreds of islands. The islands are rich in vegetation, while the shores are lined with dense reeds and cattails. Hence, some have exclaimed that it is truly a paradise for birds, a homeland for fish, and a heavenly realm on earth.
