Julongtan Reservoir is a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area.

Julongtan Reservoir is located on the Wulong Banjie River, a first-order tributary of the Dongliao River. This river system originates from the Wulong Mountain Range, which stands at an elevation of 620 meters, and the reservoir covers a drainage area of 68 square kilometers. The basin boasts well-preserved ecological environments, with lush forests and grasslands, crystal-clear water, fresh air, and naturally beautiful landscapes. Within the reservoir area, there are well-preserved 2,300-year-old bronze-age ancient tomb complex ruins, the Longtan Temple built on the hills of the left bank, as well as water conservancy hub projects and regional municipal transportation infrastructure that have reached a considerable scale. Moreover, its geographical location is highly advantageous — situated in Dongliao County, southern Jilin Province, it borders Dongfeng County to the east, connects with Xifeng County of Liaoning Province to the west, neighbors Yitong County of Jilin Province to the north, and partially faces Siping City across Erlong Lake to the southwest. The area also enjoys excellent transportation links, being just 12 kilometers from the center of Liaoyuan City, 1.5 kilometers from the county seat, and traversed by National Highway 303, the Simei Railway, and the Si-Hun Highway. National Highways 102 and 202 are also nearby. It can leverage nearby cities such as Liaoyuan, Meihekou, and Xifeng County in Liaoning Province, while also extending its reach to larger cities including Changchun, Siping, Jilin, and Shenyang.
