Introduction: The Tianhua Mountain Scenic Area is situated in the northern part of Guanshui Town, Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County, in the mountainous eastern region of Liaoning Province. It lies on the southwestern foothills of the Changbai Mountain Range, within a cold-temperate forest belt at an altitude of over 1,100 meters. The scenic area covers a total of 63 square kilometers. The five major scenic zones — “White Dragon Gully,” “Azure Dragon Gully,” “Jade Dragon Gully,” “Tianhua Peak,” and “Western Valley Summit” — blend seamlessly. Here, the natural beauty of peculiar peaks, bizarre rocks, forests, ancient trees, caves, gorges, serene streams, and waterfalls complement one another. Its wonder, serenity, grandeur, and lush charm, along with its dense, high-quality natural landscape resources, have been praised by experts as a “peerless wonderland and a mountain of myriad spectacles.”

Tianhua Mountain is characterized by its spectacular peaks, perilous gorges, tranquil streams, and beautiful waters. Eighteen unique peaks form the mountain’s skyward spectacle, including the majestic and towering Tianhua Peak, the spirited Mao Peak, the ethereal Guanyin Peak perched above the clouds, the lifelike Lion Head Peak, the towering Imperial Seal Peak reaching into the heavens, and the leaping Seal Peak emerging from the clouds. The awe-inspiring Tongtian Gorge and Tianmen Wind Passage, along with the precarious Dragon Ridge Cliff, are hailed as “the finest under heaven.” The three gullies and six valleys are exquisitely serene and otherworldly, truly deserving to be called top-tier landscapes. The waters of Tianhua Mountain are especially clear and graceful, with waterfalls and streams cascading down massive boulders and dancing through strange rocks, injecting vitality and spirit into this vast mountain.

Primitive forests, glacial relics, alpine meadows, and valley caves are among the main features of the Tianhua Mountain National Forest Park. Particularly notable is the distinct vertical distribution of climate and forest zones. With an average July temperature of just 17.5°C and maximum temperatures generally not exceeding 30°C, it is an ideal destination for sightseeing, summer retreats, and leisure vacations.

Tianhua Mountain National Forest Park is located on the southern slope of the Qinling Mountains, in the northwest of Ningqiang County, Shaanxi Province. Covering an area of 6,954 hectares, with elevations ranging from 732 to 2,964 meters, it is divided into four major scenic zones: Qinling Ridge, Xihe, Lianghe, and Tianhua Mountain, featuring 92 scenic spots and natural features. Due to the grandeur and complex terrain of the Qinling range, there is a distinct vertical climate distribution from bottom to top based on altitude, creating varying conditions within short distances — truly a case of “different weather within ten miles.” The vertical forest landscape zones are clearly defined, mainly including: mixed broadleaf-conifer forests with evergreen species, cork oak landscape forests, pine-oak landscape forests, birch landscape forests, fir landscape forests, and subalpine meadow landscape zones. The forest exhibits rich seasonal changes, with distinct scenery in all four seasons, making it perfect for sightseeing. The area features undulating peaks, crisscrossing ravines, competing summits, and crystal-clear waterfalls and pools, offering breathtaking views. Above 2,700 meters in altitude, remnants of Quaternary glacial activity can be found, with piles of massive rocks in diverse shapes, resembling a sea or river of stones.

Tianhua Mountain National Forest Park also boasts numerous cultural and historical sites with a long and storied past. These include historical relics such as the Wen Gong Temple, suspended coffins, ancient plank road ruins, ancient manor remains, Dawangzhai, the Bodhisattva Temple, and the Mountain God Temple, as well as modern revolutionary sites like the Red Army Plank Road, Red Army slogans, the Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery, and the site of the Lingkouzi Battle. It serves as an important base for patriotic education.
