Dandong Jiushui Gorge Rafting is located in the middle reaches of the Anping River. It gets its name from the river’s winding course through the canyon, making nine large bends—hence “Jiushui” (Nine Waters) Gorge. Rafting is the flagship activity of the Jiushui Gorge Tourist Resort. The rafting area features typical river valley landforms, with crystal-clear water, dramatic drops, and stunning scenery where mountains and water complement each other. It boasts three highlights: steep cliffs, leaping streams over ravines, and scattered boulders on the riverbed. The water quality of Jiushui Gorge Rafting has been tested by authoritative institutions and meets the standards for drinking mineral water. The rafting course twists and turns, alternating between fast and slow currents, creating a dynamic rhythm. It includes three thrilling yet safe sections, three intense rapids for an adrenaline-pumping experience, and three serene stretches surrounded by towering peaks and emerald waters—making it another top-tier rafting destination in Northeast China.

In 2009, Dandong Jiushui Gorge Rafting received an additional investment of over 8 million yuan. Building on existing facilities, a 600-square-meter pre-rafting security check hall was constructed, a fully enclosed dock was built, the dock area was expanded, and 1,000 new rafting boats were added, along with 200 additional three-person rafts to accommodate family rafting. The minimum height restriction for child rafters was also lowered to 1.2 meters. The total number of rafts now reaches 1,700, allowing 3,500 people to raft in a single batch. Five new shuttle buses were added, enabling the fleet to operate 192 trips per day with a transport capacity of 6,000 passengers.
