Days 1–2: Montevideo → Day 3: Colonia del Sacramento → Days 4–6: Punta del Este and Rocha Coast → Day 7: Return to Montevideo for departure. Buses are the most convenient option between cities. The bus ride from Montevideo to Colonia takes about 2.5 hours, and to Punta del Este about 2 hours.
Independence Square and Palacio Salvo → Stroll through the Old Town pedestrian streets → Lunch at the Port Market with grilled meats → Sunset walk along the Rambla. The charcoal-grilled meats at the Port Market (Mercado del Puerto) are a great introduction upon arrival.
Morning visit to the Agricultural Market (Mercado Agrícola) and Solís Theatre, afternoon at Prado Park and the Rose Garden, evening stroll along the beachfront in the Pocitos neighborhood to experience local life.
Take an early bus to Colonia del Sacramento. Wander the UNESCO-listed old town, stroll down Calle de los Suspiros (Street of Sighs), admire the Portuguese-style stone houses and lighthouse, and watch the sunset over the river estuary. You can return the same day, stay overnight, or take a ferry to Buenos Aires.
Head to Punta del Este. Visit Brava Beach and the Hand Sculpture, Mansa Beach, Gorriti Island, and the Casapueblo art gallery. Enjoy seafood and sunset views in the harbor area in the evening. This is a top resort destination for South American celebrities, especially lively in summer.
Continue east to La Paloma or Punta del Diablo to experience fishing villages and sand dunes. In winter (July–September), you can go whale watching near Santa Teresa. If time allows, visit Cabo Polonio in the dunes.
Travel back to Montevideo along the eastern coast, with an optional stop in Piriápolis, then depart from Montevideo Airport.
