Itinerary Overview
Days 1–3 in Bangkok → Days 4–5 in Chiang Mai → Days 6–7 in Phuket. The flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. Travel from Chiang Mai to Phuket requires a connection via Bangkok or can be direct (on some flights).
Days 1–3: Bangkok
- Day 1: Grand Palace + Wat Phra Kaew → Wat Pho → Wat Arun (watch the sunset from the other side of the river) → Khao San Road Night Market.
- Day 2: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market (morning market) → Mae Klong Railway Market → Dinner in Chinatown.
- Day 3: Erawan Shrine → Siam Shopping District / ICONSIAM → Chatuchak Weekend Market → Shopping at MBK Center.
Days 4–5: Chiang Mai
- Day 4: Old City of Chiang Mai (Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phan Tao) → Sunday Night Market or Nimmanhaemin Road → Thai massage.
- Day 5: Doi Suthep Temple (Wat Phra That Doi Suthep) + Bhubing Palace → Chiang Mai Night Safari or Elephant Sanctuary.
Days 6–7: Phuket
- Day 6: Patong Beach → Jungceylon Shopping Mall → Simon Cabaret Show or a day trip to Phi Phi Islands.
- Day 7: Kata/Karon Beach → Half-day trip to Phang Nga Bay or Coral Island → Departure from Phuket Airport.
Tips
- For flights between Bangkok and Phuket or Chiang Mai, budget airlines like AirAsia are recommended. Tickets can be booked for around $42–$85 if reserved in advance.
- For Bangkok’s floating markets, it’s advisable to join a day tour, as getting there independently can be complicated.
- In Chiang Mai’s Old City, everything is walkable. To get to Doi Suthep, you can hire a red songthaew or join a half-day tour.
