Classic 7-Day Seychelles Itinerary: A Three-Island Hopping Route – Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue
This seamless route connects Vallée de Mai, Anse Source d'Argent, and Beau Vallon sunset – just follow it for your first trip to the Seychelles.
Itinerary Overview
Days 1–2: Mahé Island → Days 3–4: Praslin Island → Day 5: La Digue Island → Day 6: Return to Mahé → Day 7: Departure. Inter-island transfers are via the Cat Cocos ferry, with optional car rental for a day trip on Mahé.
Days 1–2: Mahé Island – Capital and Mountains
- Day 1: Arrive at Mahé Airport, check into your hotel, then explore Victoria: see the Little Ben clock tower, the Hindu temple, and Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market with its lively fish vendors. Watch the sunset at Beau Vallon Beach and visit the night market for grilled fish (on weekends).
- Day 2: Half-day hike in Morne Seychellois National Park (choose the Copolia or Morne Blanc trail for coastal views). In the afternoon, walk the Anse Major trail on the west coast or go snorkeling in the northwest bay. Dinner options include a Chinese restaurant in Victoria or a Creole eatery.
Days 3–4: Praslin Island – Vallée de Mai and Stunning Beaches
- Day 3: Take an early morning ferry to Praslin (about 1 hour). Visit the Vallée de Mai UNESCO World Heritage Site in the morning to see the giant coco de mer fruits and black parrots. Swim at Anse Volbert beach in the afternoon. Overnight on Praslin.
- Day 4: Take a short boat trip to Curieuse Island to visit the giant tortoise sanctuary and go snorkeling (half-day tour). In the afternoon, relax on Anse Lazio – consistently ranked among the world’s top ten beaches. Enjoy octopus salad by the pier in the evening.
Day 5: La Digue Island – Ox Carts and Granite
Take a 15-minute ferry to La Digue. Rent a bicycle to explore the island: in the morning, visit Anse Source d’Argent, famous for its pink granite rocks, shallow pools, and palm-fringed shores – an iconic Seychelles sight. In the afternoon, head to the heron sanctuary and Anse Cocos beach. End the day with coconut curry fish at a local fishing village restaurant.
Days 6–7: Return and Wrap-Up
- Day 6: Take the ferry back to Mahé. Spend the afternoon on a half-day glass-bottom boat or catamaran tour to Ste. Anne Marine National Park and nearby islands. Enjoy a farewell dinner in Victoria in the evening.
- Day 7: Pick up vanilla and rum at the airport duty-free shops before departure.
Tips
- Ferry tickets during peak season should be booked 2–4 weeks in advance; opt for the earliest departure for the best availability.
- Entrance fees for Vallée de Mai and marine parks are paid separately, so carry some cash.
- Check daily flag signals for sea conditions; opt for western bays on windy days.
If your budget allows, upgrade the Day 6 half-day tour to a private catamaran island-hopping trip (Ste. Anne to La Digue route) – fewer crowds, calmer waters, and opportunities for mid-trip snorkeling. For honeymooners, arrange a beachfront candlelit dinner on Day 3 or 6 evening – most resorts and Mahé restaurants accept 24-hour advance bookings. Prices range from about 1,500 to 3,000 Seychellois Rupees.
