Itineraries 2026-10-03 0 views 7 Days
If safety conditions permit, the historical parks, Labadie, and art towns along the northern coast offer some of the most rewarding cultural experiences.

Itinerary Overview

Due to current safety concerns, this itinerary is provided purely for cultural reference. If conditions allow, it is recommended to base yourself in Cap-Haïtien and explore the National History Park, Labadie Beach, and nearby art towns, arranging all activities through a professionally secured service provider. D1–D2 Cap-Haïtien → D3 National History Park → D4 Labadie → D5–D6 Northern Coast and Art Towns → D7 Return.

D1–D2 Cap-Haïtien: Colonial City and Seaside

Cap-Haïtien is a key port city with colonial roots. The old town features colonial-era architecture and seaside promenades. On Day 1, arrive and acclimatize, visiting local churches and markets. On Day 2, explore nearby cocoa and coffee plantations, sample local cuisine, and watch the sunset by the sea. Stay aware of your surroundings at all times and avoid going out at night.

D3 National History Park: Citadelle Laferrière

The National History Park is Haiti’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the morning, travel to Milot and transfer to local transport or hike up to visit the Citadelle Laferrière—the largest fortress in the Americas, situated at around 900 meters above sea level with views over the northern coast. In the afternoon, explore the ruins of the nearby Palace of Sans-Souci to learn about the era of Henri Christophe. It is strongly advised to hire a guide and travel with others.

D4 Labadie: White Sand Beach and Cruise Port

Labadie is an exclusive cruise port operated by Royal Caribbean, known for its white-sand beaches, water activities, and local artisan markets. If arriving by cruise, safety and management are handled by the cruise line, making it a relatively controlled experience. Independent travelers should confirm security conditions in advance.

D5–D6 Northern Coast and Art Towns

Explore the colorful folk paintings and seaside charm of Jacmel, or visit other coastal towns in the north. Focus on indoor or secured sites such as museums, churches, and art workshops, and minimize extended time spent in open public areas.

D7 Return and Departure

Return to Cap-Haïtien or depart from the capital. Allow extra time for potential uncertainties with flights and road travel, and maintain contact with your embassy, consulate, and tour operators.

Safety Tips

  • Arrange all activities through professional providers with local expertise and security measures—do not rent a car or travel long distances independently.
  • Avoid traveling at night, stay away from crowded areas, and carry copies of your ID.
  • If the security situation deteriorates, stop your trip immediately and contact your embassy/consulate and insurance provider.
