The Pencil Museum is located in Keswick, Cumbria. Through a wealth of photos and information, visitors can learn about the history, uses, and manufacturing process of pencils. Although the museum is not very large, it displays pencils from all over the world — long and short, thick and thin, round, square, flat, hexagonal, oval — with a variety of colored leads and outer packaging, including pencils used for drawing that are not commonly seen, offering a glimpse of their mysterious appeal. Undoubtedly, the most eye-catching item in the museum is a giant pencil approximately two meters tall, the world’s longest colored pencil. It stands upright in a corner of the exhibition hall and is specially available for visitors to measure their height against and take commemorative photos. In addition to actual pencils, materials used to produce pencils, such as pigments and wood, are also displayed. Visitors can also tour the nearby pencil factory where pencils are being produced.
