Come and visit one of Switzerland’s sunniest peaks — Mount Brè near Lugano. The mountain top, at an elevation of 933 meters, is accessible both by train and on foot, where several restaurants await so visitors can savor delicious food while taking in the stunning scenery.

At 800 meters above sea level on Mount Brè lies a beautifully preserved and charming ancient Ticino village. The village is dotted with traditional Ticinese architecture, along with classic public fountains and laundry basins. At its center, there's the “Path of Art” featuring works by renowned artists. The Wilhelm Schmid Museum houses pieces by the artist who once lived here — Schmid being the only painter from northern Switzerland known for his magic realism style.

Departure frequency: every 30 minutes; one-way trip takes about 29 minutes, with a 50% discount available for Swiss Travel Pass holders. Take boats 80, 81, 82, or 90 from central Lugano to Casarate, then transfer to the train. Alternatively, take bus 1 from central Lugano to Casarate. Lugano – Mount Brè: boat + train takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
