Swiss Miniatur

Swiss Miniatur is a scaled-down version of all of Switzerland. It was created on June 6, 1959, and on June 6, 2009, the park just celebrated its 50th anniversary. This open-air miniature park is located in Melide, Ticino, just 4 kilometers from the city center of Lugano, adjacent to Lake Lugano in the Swiss Italian-speaking region, embraced by Monte San Salvatore, Monte San Giorgio, and Monte Generoso, with exceptionally magnificent natural scenery all around.

Covering an area of 14,000 square meters, Swiss Miniatur allows you to admire over 120 meticulously crafted scale models of famous Swiss landmarks, all built at a 1:25 scale. These include the famous Heidi Village in Maienfeld, Château de Chillon, the Federal Palace in Bern, as well as Milan Cathedral. A 3,560-meter-long model railway runs throughout the park, with 18 model trains operating on it. You can watch different train models running on the tracks, crossing bridges, and stopping at stations—it’s all incredibly lifelike and very entertaining. You’ll also see boats sailing on the lake, cable cars going up and down, and cars speeding along highways.

The entire park is decorated with a carefully selected array of 1,500 different plants and more than 15,000 flowers, making it a must-visit for gardening enthusiasts. In addition, there are coin-operated amusement machines for children. The self-service restaurant in Swiss Miniatur offers a variety of cuisines—local dishes, Italian food, Indian cuisine, and, of course, Chinese food—welcoming visitors from all over the world.
