Bellinzona

Bellinzona is located in southeastern Switzerland at the foot of the Alps and serves as the capital of the canton of Ticino, the 45th largest city in Switzerland. The city is perhaps the most Italian-style town in Switzerland, consisting of three well-preserved medieval castles, all of which have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

From idyllic corners, squares, and courtyards to neoclassical Italian-style theaters and restored historic houses, every element tells the story of the town's culture and history. Alleys and streets are lined with richly decorated noble residences and splendid churches. The three UNESCO-listed castles—Castelgrande, Montebello, and Sasso Corbaro—along with their surrounding walls, stand as the sole surviving example of a medieval fortress complex in the Alps.
