Mendrisio

Mendrisio is a city in southern Switzerland, governed by the canton of Ticino. It was first mentioned in 793 and is well known by its German name. The majority of its residents speak German and Italian, with about 80% adhering to Roman Catholicism. Currently, it hosts one of the campuses of the University of Ticino.

Mendrisio is a city rich in outstanding historical architecture, featuring numerous churches such as the Church of San Martino, the Church of San Giovanni, the Church of Santa Maria, and the Church of San Silvestro. Although located in Switzerland, visitors can experience an Italian-style way of life here, offering a truly unique experience. The Art Museum houses a collection of over 400 items, including paintings and sculptures, and also hosts exhibitions related to contemporary art.

Mendrisio also hosts a variety of colorful festivals and events throughout the year, including an antique market that attracts over 10,000 collectors, jazz festivals, wine festivals, and the Feast of St. Martin.
