Maestranza
Introduction Maestranza is Seville’s most famous bullfighting district, located on an open space between the Triana Door of the Triana district and the Torre del Oro (Golden Tower). The nearby Calle de la Alameda, built in the 16th century, is the birthplace of the rogue hero tales penned by writer Lope de Vega, and the myth of Don Juan also originated from here.
The bullring in Maestranza is an 18th-century structure, where a statue of Carmen also stands — it is said that Carmen was killed by José at this very spot.
