Alamillo Bridge

The Alamillo Bridge is located in Seville, Spain, spanning the Canal de Alfonso XIII and leading to a small island between the canal and the Guadalquivir River. This spectacular bridge was built as an auxiliary facility for the 1992 Seville World Expo.

Designed by the Spanish architectural poet Santiago Calatrava Valls, the Alamillo Bridge was constructed starting in 1989 and completed in 1992. It is a cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge with a single pylon, stretching 250 meters in length and 140 meters in width, supported by 13 stay cables that suspend the deck. Majestic and breathtaking, it is a remarkable feat of engineering. Serving not only as a vehicular bridge but also as a structural work of art, the Alamillo Bridge showcases the ingenuity of its designer. Allowing both motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian and bicycle access, it greatly facilitates daily commuting for residents on both sides of the bridge, providing significant convenience.
