Vannes is a town in the Morbihan department of the Brittany region in northwestern France. It is located in the Gulf of Morbihan, about 100 km northwest of Nantes and 450 km southwest of Paris. It is an important tourist city in the Brittany region and a well-known seaside resort in the department.

Vannes boasts numerous historical landmarks, such as the Gothic Vannes Cathedral and the Baroque-style St. Peter's Church. The old town, surrounded by ancient city walls, preserves many historic sites, including 17th-century palaces, medieval gates, 18th-century gateways, and many half-timbered houses. Visitors can also walk along the ramparts for panoramic views. The harbor is dotted with various boats, which become even more enchanting under the dazzling lights at night. Meanwhile, the medieval Château Gaillard now houses the Musée de la Cohue, an archaeological museum and art gallery, making it an important destination to explore local history, archaeological finds, and art.
