La Flèche

La Flèche is a commune in France, located in the Sarthe department of the Pays de la Loire region. It is the sub-prefecture of the department and the second most populous city in the area.

La Flèche boasts a wealth of historical and cultural heritage. The Prytanée National Militaire, founded by Henry IV in 1603, is situated here. It was once one of France’s six prestigious military academies and is now an important historic site, with notable attractions including the Honor Gate, French gardens, a library, and the Church of Saint-Louis. The La Flèche Zoo, established in 1946, is the oldest private zoo in France, covering 14 hectares and home to about 1,200 animals from 150 species, making it the most popular tourist attraction in the department.

Other must-see sights include an ancient mill, beautiful lakes, the Church of Saint-Thomas, the Church of Notre-Dame, the old prison on Rue du Marché, the Church and Museum of Providence, and a medieval theater. Additionally, visitors can enjoy comfortable and relaxing camping routes.
