Laval City

Laval is a city in western France, approximately 300 kilometers southwest of Paris, and serves as the capital of the Mayenne department. Historically, it was an important battlefield during the French bourgeois revolution. Since 1999, it has hosted the largest virtual reality international conference in Europe.

Laval is rich in historical and cultural heritage, including ancient city walls, medieval houses, a 13th-century bridge, churches, and the Château de Laval. It is also the birthplace of the famous French painter Henri Rousseau, with museums dedicated to him and other local literary figures. The Romanesque-style Cathedral of the Trinity features elaborate murals and stone carvings. Additionally, exhibitions showcasing local textile craftsmanship, beautiful botanical gardens and parks, as well as remnants of Laval’s city walls, are all must-sees.
