Armored Museum

The Armored Museum is a tank museum located in Saumur, Loire Valley, France. It is one of the largest tank museums in the world and also the most famous attraction in Saumur.

In 1977, the museum was founded under the leadership of Colonel Michel Aubry. Initially housing nearly a hundred armored vehicles, it has since grown into a world-class museum highly regarded by military enthusiasts and international armor and weapon experts.

The Armored Museum boasts the world’s largest collection of armored combat vehicles, with over 880 units—mostly from France, but also including tanks from Brazil, Germany, the former Soviet Union, as well as from both Allied and Axis powers of World War II. More than 200 of these vehicles are still operational. The museum features 11 exhibition areas, including sections on World War I, the 1940 Battle of France, WWII Germany, WWII Allies, the Warsaw Pact, and NATO—absolutely not to be missed.
