Nova Scotia Museum of Industry
The Nova Scotia Museum of Industry is located in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Canada. Established in 1986 and opened to the public in 1995, it is dedicated to telling the industrial history of Nova Scotia and the stories of its workers, housing a rich collection of industrial heritage.
The museum explores the opportunities and challenges that the industrial age brought to Nova Scotia, the relationship between industry and society, as well as the significant contributions of industry to the province and the profound changes it brought to people’s lives. Currently, the museum houses a collection of over 30,000 items, including various goods produced by industry, tools and equipment used in production, workers’ uniforms, locomotives, automobiles, books, archives, photographs, and thousands of coal mining-related artifacts. The Nova Scotia Museum of Industry also holds the first natural gas-powered automobile in the province, which was not only the first mass-produced car in Nova Scotia but also the first Volvo car in Canada.
