Routes to the summit: One via Bethunes Gully and another along the Mount Cargill Track. Both routes are in good condition and not overly difficult. The entire hike takes about 3 to 4 hours.

At 676 meters above sea level, Mount Cargill is a major attraction in northern Dunedin. The mountain is named after Captain William Cargill, one of the founders of the Otago settlement. From the summit, you can enjoy spectacular views of Dunedin and the surrounding areas.
