Ocean Beach stretches along the southern coast of Dunedin in the Otago region, winding eastward for 3 kilometers from the southwest. It’s a popular spot for locals to relax and one of the most pleasant beaches in New Zealand.

Ocean Beach is divided into three equal sections: St Clair Beach, Middle Beach, and St Kilda Beach, each serving a distinct purpose. St Clair Beach is a renowned surfing spot with a designated swimming area, and it hosts annual surf lifesaving events and surfing competitions. St Kilda Beach is famous for swimming, offering a designated swimming zone where visitors can enjoy swimming in varying depths. Middle Beach, with its numerous sand dunes, is the perfect place for children to play.

At Ocean Beach, you might occasionally spot some wildlife. Seals and sea lions are regular visitors, often coming close to greet visitors. If you’re lucky, you may even see the adorable little blue penguins.
