Lake Pieman

Lake Pieman is a dammed lake located near Rosebery in western Tasmania. It was formed when Hydro Tasmania built a dam on the Pieman River. Rosebery is a mining town situated approximately 335 kilometers, or about a five-hour drive, northwest of Hobart.

Located to the west of Rosebery, Lake Pieman has an elongated shape with crystal-clear waters that shimmer under the sunlight. The surrounding area boasts beautiful natural scenery, with numerous wild trees and plants. Like all Hydro Tasmania lakes, it is home to abundant and plump trout, as well as other fish species. There are various ways to enjoy Lake Pieman—you can leisurely boat on the water, taking in the scenic beauty of the lake and its surroundings; go fishing along the shore; or have a picnic or barbecue on the banks. You can also explore the Pieman River by water, taking a cruise that departs from the town of Corinna.
