The River Torrens is located in South Australia and is the most important river on the Adelaide Plains, arguably the mother river of the city of Adelaide. It is not only a landmark of Adelaide but also a crucial source of water supply for the city.

The River Torrens originates in the Adelaide Hills, with a total length of 85 kilometers. It flows through the Adelaide Plains, crosses the Central Business District of Adelaide, and continues all the way to Henley Beach. The river divides Adelaide into two distinctly contrasting areas — the tranquil and scenic northern residential zone and the bustling commercial southern area. The river is home to a rich variety of fish species, including native Australian varieties as well as many introduced and farmed foreign species, making it an excellent spot for fishing. On hot summer days, many people enjoy fishing under the shade of trees, sitting on lush green lawns for leisure and relaxation. Along the banks of the River Torrens, flocks of black swans and wild ducks can often be seen. They have become good companions to anglers, allowing themselves to be gently petted.
