Elder Park

Elder Park is located on the southern bank of the River Torrens in Adelaide, South Australia. Established in 1885, it is a public urban space and an ideal destination for weekend and holiday outings. The park’s name originates from the Elder family, early settlers who founded a company there.

Elder Park was established by Isabella Elder in memory of her husband. Its purpose was to provide the public with more open spaces and promote health through music and entertainment. Sculptures of Isabella and her husband can be found within the park. The park features lush green lawns, fragrant flowers, and verdant trees, with the tranquil waters of the River Torrens flowing gently nearby. A modern fountain has been installed in the river, which "dances" during weekends and holidays. In 1882, a uniquely designed circular bandstand was built in the park, making it a favorite spot for visitors to take photos.

Elder Park is the venue for Christmas carols at dusk each year and for symphony performances under the starlit sky. The major Adelaide Festival is held here annually, attracting artists from both home and abroad.
