Mount Lofty Botanic Garden

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Lofty in eastern Adelaide, covering an area of 97 acres, and first opened to the public in 1977. This cool, moist garden primarily cultivates a variety of plants native to the Adelaide Plains, some of which are unique to Australia, while others have been imported from other countries.

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is just a half-hour drive from the Adelaide city center and, together with Adelaide Botanic Garden and Wittunga Botanic Garden, forms one of the three major botanical gardens in Adelaide. The plants cultivated here mainly come from countries such as South America, China, East Africa, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and North America. Most of the flora thrive in cool climates, with native Australian plants predominantly consisting of tree ferns, while introduced species include rhododendrons, magnolias, roses, and more. Among them, the rose garden, featuring a wide array of rose varieties, is listed as one of the cultural heritage sites.

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is free to visit and is open to the public from 8:30 to 16:00 on weekdays (Monday to Friday), and from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekends and public holidays. It is generally closed during the fire danger season.
