Whiteman Park

Located in the northern part of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, Whiteman Park is 22 kilometers from the city center. Opened in 1986, the park spans 4,000 hectares and is named after the businessman who purchased the land. Whiteman Park provides a space for local people to relax and enjoy outdoor activities, while also contributing to the protection of the region’s groundwater resources.

Known for its biodiversity, Whiteman Park is home to over 450 species of native plants and more than 120 species of vertebrate animals, some of which are rare and endangered. The park’s biggest stars are kangaroos and koalas, with up to 200 different types of koalas and a population of over 2,000. Visitors can get up close and interact with these adorable koalas. Seventeen percent of Western Australia’s bird species can be found in the park, which is why it offers special birdwatching activities. In addition to these charming animals, the park also features sports facilities, an amusement park, a Children's Forest, bushwalking trails, a tractor museum, a machinery museum, and a gift shop.

Most amazingly, visitors can ride steam trains, diesel trains, and vintage trams within the park. Whiteman Park is the only park in Western Australia where you can experience a ride on a historic tram. Taking a train or tram allows you to feel the long history of transportation development.
