The Swan Bells Bell Tower is located in Perth, Australia. It is a modern bell tower built in 2000 and is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, having been visited by millions of tourists. Unlike traditional bell towers, this one resembles a blue swan with its head raised and wings spread, standing quietly in the heart of the city.

The name of the Swan Bells Bell Tower comes from the Swan River. It houses a collection of 18 bells imported from England, weighing a total of 9 tonnes. The lightest bell weighs about 240 kilograms, while the heaviest can reach up to 1,500 kilograms. Among them, the 12 heaviest bells were originally from St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in London, UK. These bells were given to Perth in 1988 as a gift to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Australia’s colonization. Each bell in the tower is suspended by ropes and can be rotated 360 degrees. Skilled bell ringers use precise techniques, known as “change ringing,” to strike the bells. Therefore, every ringer here must possess highly refined skills—otherwise, they could disrupt the harmony or even damage the bells.

Except on Wednesdays and Fridays, the Swan Bells Bell Tower holds a bell-ringing ceremony daily from 12:00 to 13:00. Those interested are welcome to attend and enjoy what promises to be a magnificent musical experience.
